What makes a successful studio space?
I spent some time visiting artist studios and studying the workspaces of other architecture students to see what people needed in their environment to work. The conclusion was that artists often live close to the bread line and therefore will often work wherever they can find shelter. Charity organisations like WASP, however, renovate buildings around Scotland to better equip artists and keep their rent affordable. The top image simply shows a typical classroom in St Johns Primary populated with architecture students to illustrate that improvement to the building wasn't necessary to function as studios but that the rooms were not ideal.
