I love travelling. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay with some friends in America for a while in Chicago and New York in 2011. These are a few of the photos I took while I was there.
Most of my photography is for documentations sake as opposed to an exercise of expression or composition. That said I have a general preoccupation with taking photos of people in a normal day situation in environments I find unusual. Growing up in Belfast left a world of excitement to be discovered as it has only really begun catching up with the rest of the western world in terms of experimentation with the built environment and public art; which is interesting for different reasons. This makes a lot of environments unusual to me.
I enjoy texture, pattern and single point perspectives, particularly in photography but other media as well. This may become evident as the "photography" category grows.
Cities are an incredible expression of the will of man. To create an environment of such scale, considering each brick was placed by a single person, is awe inspiring; and it is still dwarfed in comparison to the sky and sea. I was clearly preoccupied with these thoughts while taking photos at the top of Willis Tower.
Really interesting observations!
